It’s hard to believe that it has been over three decades since we’ve seen Kirk Cameron playing his part in the sitcom, Growing Pains. That show ran from 1985 until 1992, and Kirk was quite a heartthrob.
When he was at the height of his career, however, he decided to do something that really changed the course of his life. Up until that time he had always been proud of being an atheist but shortly before marrying his costar, he found religion.
He and his new wife did many projects together and they often used religion in order to keep their relationship strong. They would communicate with each other regularly and Kirkwood shared his newfound faith with others.
Kirk and his wife, Chelsea Noble are now the parents of six children, four of whom they adopted. They actually adopted their first four children and then went on to have two biological children.
They raised their family with a lot of love and in a 2008 interview, Kirk said that he was committed to his wife and that he would never kiss any woman besides her.
As you can imagine, it would be difficult to hold to that stance if you worked in Hollywood, but he is somewhat controversial because of his faith and his views on politics.
In fact, when talking about the LGBTQ community and supporting Donald Trump, he didn’t make a lot of friends in the industry.
He said: “I’m kind of a Hollywood freak. I didn’t really turn out the way most people turn out growing up in this industry.”
He also was one to say that people should worry about their own responsibilities more than their spouse’s responsibilities. His sister also spoke about the importance of meekness and submission to make a marriage work.
She said: “It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that’s what I choose to have in my marriage.”
Despite the fact that he has been criticized over the years, he still continues to stick with his personal values. He feels that parents should set boundaries on technology and feels that it has a deep impact on the children.
“I want to protect my kids too. There are ways that we must protect our kids, but the real battle is the battle for the heart.”
At one point, he spoke about how he had a commitment not to kiss any other woman. He said that when he’s kissing his wife, they are a husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes.
Something else that he is known for was his desire to adopt and to let them know that they were not a second choice. His wife said: “Once a baby is placed in your arms, or a child of any age, and you’re their mom or their dad, I just think there’s a special bond that does come straight from God. It doesn’t necessarily come from your body.”
Kirk and his family left California in July 2024. He moved to Tennessee, but he had actually been thinking about leaving Hollywood since 2021. That was when he wrote the following in a Facebook post:
“While there are many beautiful aspects of California, there are also some… not so great factors 😂 and recently I’ve been tossing around the idea of looking for a new property and some land in another state, where taxes are lower, patriotism is higher, and biblical values of faith and family are celebrated.”
One reason why he made the decision to move to Tennessee was because of the entertainment industry. He also appreciated the lower taxes and he is not the only person from California to make the move.
“If everything hits the fan and there’s some serious economic problems and division going on, they want to be around people (who think) like they think who are all about God, family, and country. It’s a really nice place to be,” he said, adding the people there had “good wholesome values” and that he wanted to “be around like-minded people for safety and for security.”
Not long after they moved, there was another change in his life. He became a grandfather for the first time at the age of 54 in September 2024.
He said the following in his social media post: “My wife and I are new grandparents! Wow!🙌🏼 Our hearts are filled to overflowing. Our beautiful baby girl just had a beautiful baby girl, and we can hardly wait to spend every minute with her and shower her with love. Welcome to the world, Maya Jeanne Noble Bower. May God bless and protect you always!🙏🏼❤️.”
